We believe the core of utility control projects is to provide a high-quality product, deploy quickly and predictably, and provide a level of support that other companies can’t match.
As worldwide energy storage deployments reach 10 GW and global markets accept the introduction of energy storage to solar projects, AlsoEnergy sees a growing number of energy storage use cases and models varying from grid support to dynamic rate scheduling. We believe the core of utility control projects is to provide a high-quality product, deploy quickly and predictably, and provide a level of support that other companies can’t match. With other offerings, asset owners and EPCs have to separately approach multiple companies to achieve SCADA and power plant controller (PPC) integration, cybersecurity, and cloud-based monitoring. AlsoEnergy provides full compatibility within one ecosystem, accelerating system integration and simplifying project management.
Long term, we want to improve harmony and plant integration, reducing hardware requirements and utilizing our 30 GW of solar monitoring infrastructure to reduce deployment times and costs.
For energy storage, we envision a system that maximizes customer revenue while minimizing CapEx and long-term support costs. The industry needs a versatile solution set backed by a single model that supports commercial and industrial (C&I) projects or utility projects, string inverters or central inverters. Customers want ongoing improvements in plant-level controls, control at the point of interconnection (POI), support for AC-coupled and DC-coupled systems, and integration for systems with any combination of solar and storage assets. Our vision is a standard core library, customizable to equipment selection and ready to deploy anywhere in the world.
AlsoEnergy has set out a comprehensive roadmap to extend our leadership in plant controls for storage assets. We have partnered with Stem, IHI, and Fluence to develop standard deployment architectures and harmonize our offerings for zero net energy (ZNE) and curtailment solutions in C&I storage projects. We’re currently targeting DC-coupled systems with control and scheduler components that allow customers to easily schedule control modes from on-site or third-party human-machine interface (HMI).
AlsoEnergy can support many inverter types and communication protocols including RS-485 serial and TCP configurations. We are working on AC-coupled systems for when supporting the grid at the point of interconnection is a must. Long term, we want to improve harmony and plant integration, reducing hardware requirements and utilizing our 30 GW of solar monitoring infrastructure to reduce deployment times and costs.
